no room for hipsters

the occupation of Ashley and Levon

our room on Calle Aguacero

The Good Packaging subscription spring issue will be out this week.  If this is the first mention of it you’ve heard, very briefly it is a quarterly subscription to art and music created by Ashley and I, plus collaborations of those we meet.  Click the picture to your left for more info.

We have the spring edition nearly ready to send off.  My biggest project has been to mix the song takes I made and wrote while we were in Mexico.  In the package will be an EP, “Hecho en Mexico” and here’s a bit of the liner notes to explain it:

Good Packaging Spring 2010 EP Liner Notes from Levon

The Girl who Hangs her Clothes Out in the Rain Ashley does this and I’ve always laughed.  Or gotten frustrated.  In a mixed state of missing…

Cafe Avenida This is the music inspired by the favorite streetside cafe of old men in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas…

A Knoxy Salsa This is a placeholding title, and this song is only some experimental latin guitar licks that…

Don Pepe's sombrero

Also included in the package are a set of handmade Mexico inspired flags, Spanish phrase flashcards, a DIY project kit with popular Mexican fabric, a collaboration with a Chiapas elementary school, and the CDs “NYC Spanks Levon Walker” and “No Room for Hipsters” for good measure.  It’s not too late to get in on this issue, just click here for purchasing information.  Look for the summer issue to follow in a couple months.
